Vintage Hand Knotted Carnelian Strand Necklace Sterling Silver Clasp

Many things have been written about the symbolic purposes of carnelian, a stone with a great history.  The ancient Egyptians used carnelian for protection and health and my brief research showed that often this fiery stone was used for courage.  I can not pinpoint the exact age of this strand however it is certainly a lovely piece including the delicate sterling silver clasp.
